  • Always lock your vehicle and take the keys with you, even if it is only for a few minutes.

  • Never leave the engine running while your vehicle is unattended.

  • Safeguard your keys - Never keep your vehicle keys house keys or business keys on the same key ring and NEVER attach identification tags to them. Leave only the vehicle key with the service facility when having your vehicle serviced or repaired.

  • Personal items - cheque books, credit cards, money in ashtrays, garage door openers, vehicle registration and parcels should be kept out of sight. Leaving valuable items exposed to view is an invitation to thieves.

  • Take a picture of your vehicle and keep it in a safe place. This will make search and identification easier if your vehicle is stolen. A picture will also be beneficial when settling a claim.

Choose your vehicle carefully. There are many anti-theft devices available on new vehicles- electronic immobilizers, fuel and electrical cut off devices, anti-theft alarms systems, steering wheel locking devices and hood locks.
